Saint Etienne @ Manchester '05

A temporary deviation from the scans. On 18/06/05, I went to see Saint Etienne play at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, where they were playing a gig to promote the "Tales of Turnpike House" album. It was a blisteringly hot Saturday Summer night, but fortunately the venue had air-con. I had a front row seat so got one of the best views you could get in this intimate venue. A quarter of the way through, Sarah encouraged us all to stand and come to the front, and then very daringly, for the encore, said that we could get up on stage (as there was little in the way of security to stop us). So fittingly, me and half the audience stormed the stage whilst the Ett played "Nothing Can Stop Us Now"!

Unfortunately the cameraphone I had at the time was a bit basic, but here are some photos of the event which hopefully give a flavour of what was a special night.

Well worth missing Chris Eccleston regenerate into David Tennant in "Doctor Who" the same night! Hurrah for Sky+!

On the train into Manchester... next stop Deansgate...

Lurking outside the venue, the tour bus...

And one beer later, on with the gig...

"Come on up..."
